VOLUNTEERING
Hippy, Buddhist, christian, muslim and Sikh
DoYourService is not a religious organization although we welcome support from many faiths. Our work is unaffiliated to any faith however every faith would agree that the work that we do is sanctimonious to their beliefs. No matter what you believe, whether religious or atheist doing good works for other people will aid you on your personal quest for enlightenment. With DoYourService you will learn much more about the world than you would perhaps volunteering alone, or with other single faith groups. With volunteers worldwide and many of those volunteers online discussion and cross culture communication is welcomed!
Wherever you are from!
No matter where you are in the world there is something you can do! Some are happier to help online than work in the real world, however we would encourage everyone to do their bit for those around them.
As a group we have many volunteers who work alone, people sporadically dotted around the world, but with common cause with so many others they and you are never alone!
Whether an environmentalist, a politically motivated volunteer, a humanitarian, someone who cares for their children or for the future of their children's children, you must do your bit! Please do not just sit back and leave it to others. Its up to you!
From the smallest child to the wise old man. From the baby to the wise old woman, we each have a part to play. Whether it is influencing others or changing things directly ourselves, we need to decide BUT if we don't act and do the work we should be doing, so much that would stem from our effort is lost. Where perhaps the small effort of one is enough to incite another without that effort those incited in turn will not act, a spiral of non action begins!
DoYourService is here to change all of that we will change the world, we as individuals are changing the world around us everyday and you can do, no matter how low or high you feel at the minute YOU can feel better!
Volunteering is good for you
Volunteering gives you a new lease of life, and it may allow you to see things you have never seen before. Do things that you would never have had dreamed of before. Working with others who share common interests, and even if you are working alone in the beginning, your network of friends has already begun to grow through the many volunteers worldwide.
Volunteering gives you Strength
People don't often realize that helping others can actually help you! helping people to deal with their own problems makes you feel stronger it makes you feel better about yourself and often it makes your own problems just seem that little bit less frightening. The friends you make through helping others make your life in general better, more contented, more amazing.
Volunteering makes the world a brighter place
Knowing that you put a smile on someone else's face, WILL put a smile on yours, and if you knew that you had made someone else's life better just with a few minutes of your time the feeling of empowerment can be beyond belief, it truly will bring a lump to your throat if through volunteering at home or abroad you can actually help someone else.
Volunteering WILL change the way you think
If you are worried about your job, about your mortgage, about achievement and success, about starting a family, about family problems, about finding a partner, or keeping one. Volunteering can help you get the skills so that you don't need to worry. It will help expand your mind in ways you never thought possible. It will make you a new person, yet the same. hard to explain but it will be easy for others to notice the change.
